That is good info. The number one thing for you to upgrade would be your memory. the minimum that you want to use it 512MB but I recommend installing a total of 1024MG (or 1G).
Do that and you will get more speed for sure...
With only 256MB, you are maxed out most of the time and your system is basically on standby until the memory is freed up to process the data. A system running windows XP will idle at 220MB so basically you only have around 30MB free to do other things. Definitely not enough.

1024 or 1G is around 100.00 but that depends on the brand and where u get it. TMO

Yes, you can but you will need to make sure to install them in the corrosponding slots. What I mean is, you will need to install each of the 1G memory sticks in the same color memory slot. Different manufacturers will place them in different locations. For example: ( X is a pair and O is a pair) XO XO or XX OO I suggest if you have two sticks of memory the same size already installed then you should be safe to install the 1G sticks in the other 2 available slots. If thats not the case then you will want to find your manual for the motherboard (or the manual for the brand of PC) and see if it has info on the correct layout.
