Nikon is correct...
Is the hard drive SATA or ATA? You will know if its SATA due to the very thin cable compared to the large cable connections.
If its ATA you have to be sure that you do have the jumpers on the hard drives set to master then slave. The master drive is the one that is the original and contains your operating system.
If its SATA you dont have to worry about this but you will need to make sure you have the new hard drive plugged into the correct SATA jack on your MB. If you have 2 pairs of connectors you will place it in the connector next to the one already installed. With SATA you need to install your hard drive using the diskette that came with it. This is like a maintenance program that can set your new hard drive up to be formatted to be detected and used by windows when it boots up. You will probably have to go to your BIOS (usually Delete key) during boot or F8 function key. You will then tab over to Boot Devices and make sure that you see both drives and set your original hard drive as the 1st boot and your new drive as the second boot.
As for the video card, I think all that needs to be done is correct your hard drive setting problem and reboot with your new video card in it. Dont allow the windows to install the drivers, click cancel and use the Driver Disk that came with it and manually install after windows boots completely. This should take about 5-10min and you can go online and check for newer version of Video card driver and download. Delete the driver from your PC and reboot. Reinstall new downloaded driver and recheck your PC. Only do this if you think your system isnt running well.
I hope I didnt confuse you. If I knew exactly what kind of hardware you were working with then I could narrow this down and tell you exactly what you need but I think this is better giving you a couple of options now instead of you having to come back online 3-4 times.
Good luck and let us know if that dont work. Let me know exactly if its SATA or ATA hard drive if it dont work.

He is getting a blank screen with the vedio card. It is a Raden 9550 card but when he disables the old one he still gets the blank screen. Even trying to get the other one to work there is nothing happening with it. John sent him the vedio card and the disk with it with the drivers. He has a Dell comp wich i think is the problem lol. But maybe this will help you on the vedio card.

Is it an AGP connection or PCI? He has to be sure to uninstall old card and drivers first. Does it have onboard video?
If it does, before you install the new card be sure to uninstall all drivers for old card from the add remove program list then reboot. After reboot go into BIOS (DELETE key or F8) at first boot up screen and go into settings and activate onboard video card settings. Finish reboot and then shut down. Take out old video card and install new card.
Reboot PC and dont install drivers from auto detect hardware, click cancel when you see this start. After PC completely reboots then you want to insert driver disk. Install all drivers and reboot PC again.
This should work. If not then theres something else going on. You may have to go back into BIOS setting and go to last menu and load default settings to reset BIOS then try this again.
Last but not least after you intall new card you will need to go back into BIOS and disable onboard video and you will also need to find your graphics card memory settings in your BIOS and set to 256. Just because you install a 256MB memory video card dont mean its running at 256 after you install, this is almost always a manual setting you have to make.
Everyone should go into thier BIOS and check this setting, you will be surprised to find it running at 64MB.
Let me know if this dont work and we will go further with the trouble shooting. I will be willing to talk to him over the phone if necessary.

I did all the above and i get stopped on the reboot after i connect the new card, my screen shows nothing. In fact it shuts off the monitor completely. Then I tried to install new drivers before putting in video card and it tells me that there is no hareware to install software for. This has been a nightmare from the start simply because I dont know hardware.
Never the less thank you to everyone who tried to get involved in helping me. I have come to that point where I say its worth the 80 dollars that this place I called is going to charge to install HD and VC and tune and fix my sons internet problem all in the 3 days im going to be out of town ! I have to say it worth it lol. Again thank you everyone !

Perfect example of why I dont like you Air. Common since would tell you that shoving into my comp was nothing but a expression not actual event. Maybe instead of spamming in a forum ment for help you should keep spamming tanks !

Jag, your probably correct about taking it to that shop. I can only do so much from my house to help you. If your that frustrated with it, and I can understand why because it can get ugly fast, it will be best to let them do it.
Good luck with it and if you wish to try anything else I have no prob doing so.

Good to hear its back up and going. Sorry about not being able to walk you thru the fix but some things are better done in person and that is one of those things.
Let us know if theres anything else because it may be easier to do next time.
