Goto Controll panel choose System. Select the Advanced tab, click on the Performance settings buttons, and goto the advanced button. Go down to the virtual part and click on change. If your computer has alot of gig free put the Inital size to 1000 and the Maximum size to 1000 and hit set. Apply the settings and reboot. This will stop your computer from using all your ram and use your hard drive more.

There is no advantage for using more of your hard drive.. in fact it will slow down performance..no RAM is fastest component on your system next to your CPU. If you have read my post in another thread I explained all of this.

Spamreflex is right in the fact that using the hard drive (virtual memory) is much slower than ram.
What I think that murder was saying is that if you are maxing out your ram and you cant afford any more then you can consider using virtual memory (which, yes is slower) but is faster than no memory if you are maxing out your ram and your system is freezing up.
The best thing to do would be to buy more ram, preffered 1G (or 1024MB) total. That is enough for 90+% of anyone out there for now. I suggest at a minimum of 512MB to have a little buffer most of the time. That will get you by until you can get more if you cant get it all at once.
