Is it for you? Are you keeping the one you have? You say multimedia, so I take it you need a lot of storage and want it to play videos, music and what else? I am considering selling mine. This is a link to the specs of my laptop: h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?dlc=en&lc=en&product=447440&lang=en&cc=us&docname=c00286662h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00286662&dlc=en&product=447440&lang=en&I also have a Belkin wireless N notebook adapter that cost 90.00, a laptop cooler base 20.00, all the software that came with it new and a heavy duty carrying case with strap and will sell for 450.00 & shipping. Its a very good multimedia laptop and I have even been able to play some games such as Generals, Quake 4 and COD2. It wont play games like Oblivion, COD4 or the latest hardcore games but you said you wanted it for multimedia so its that and a little more. My 2 year warranty expired this past December from Best Buy. I have had no issues at all except a bad battery and that was replaced this past summer so its brand new as well. Also, I forgot I upgraded the memory so it has the max it can hold, 1x1024mb & 1x256mb. That was done this past summer too. Its up to you if you want it I will sell it and save you close to 750.00. Let me know. If not, I will try to help you pick out a new laptop. I mostly keep up with desktops since they can actually be modified and are usually more powerful. TMO

specs look good. but i never found myself to be a fan of HP. I plan on using the laptop for a DJ program im using. A guy at firedog said that macs are the best for music, and i fail to see why they are better. I was thinkin maybe a sony vaio. a lot of DJs using digital music programs usually use a vaio or mac. I bet its just for looks. I guess what im tryin to say is are there any real differences between a mac and a pc? also for music are there any specific specs/requirements i should look at. like whats a good sound card

Are you trying to connect instruments to the laptop? If so: www.rainrecording.com/1-877-MIX-RAIN/store/home.php?cat=258There are some inexpensive to very expensive components to choose from. Some of these look to be for desktops but some are for laptops too. Or, are you trying to find a laptop with a good sound card built in? Most of these will be integrated. More expensive ones may be internal sound cards but I would tend to think it would be much better to get an external add on sound processing device. I found this as an interesting debate thread about best laptops for djs: answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061229135149AAhyEpqThis is a thread from someone asking experienced people on what setup to use: forum.osnn.net/showthread.php?t=87924From what I gather, you need a dual core cpu so mine isnt the best option anyway. And you need a lot of ram and a low latency sound card. I read on one of the threads that you can use an external sound card to be processing the next mix while the internal sound card does the current mix. That is interesting to me as usually you need to disable an internal card to use an external card, at least on a desktop. These guys should know what they are talking about since they dj. TMO

This is another great bit of useful information. You want Windows XP, not Vista. Due to driver issues and software compatability. They say to use your laptop strictly for djing and nothing else. Do not load antivirus, dont surf the web or anything but to dj. They say you can load XP lite and use this to free up system resources and get your systems power solely for the processes you need. You can do a dual boot and set it up with XP lite and boot to the regular windows side when you want to use your laptop for regular use. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XPLitetweakhound.com/reviews/xplite/index.htmwww.litepc.com/xplite.htmlTo me this looks like the best option. The second link I gave you walks you thru the actual task of removing services you dont need and makes it easy. You should still be able to order a dual core intel laptop with 2gigs of ram and windows xp somewhere. If not, let me know and I will help you with windows xp. TMO

Macs are good systems. Most people dont use macs because they have are invested in the pc due to all of the software that they likely have purchased and they arent educated enough on how to use a mac and dont want to try. I have never seen a windows based system set up to run a mac os. Im not sure thats even possible. I will try to research it and let you know... TMO

That was a quick find. What it appears that your only option to run a mac os on a windows based pc is to run it on an emulator. Heres a site that tells you how to do it... www.oreilly.com/catalog/9780596528430/Very interesting. TMO
