ok...when i play music or games etc. it is obvious to me that there is something wrong. lets say i want to watch a video clip on the internet. If i want to play it while it is still loading it siezures every like 2 seconds. when ever i want to listen to some sort of media and something has to load on my desktop or where ever, it always siezures and only stops siezureing when all the loading is done. siezures almost like a dvd or cd disc skipping
- my computer has more than enough free space to prevent lag - i do a disck clean up everyday -i defragmented about 4 times -i did like 5 virus scans (scaned the whole computer) - deleted many after market programs that may have caused the problem - my laptop is fairly new (sony vaio, VGN-FS715/W)
i am 80% sure its a hardware problem. maybe some1 can tell me sumthin new.

Just the person to speak with Player.... I too have labtop.. Ok ok it doesnt make me a PC expert but I might have a small tip for you. I think your right about the hardware problem. With a labtop the chances of debris entering computer are far greater than a normal PC. I would buy a can of air.. (omg buy air) Use the pressure air to clean labtop thoroughly. Maybe even try to remove the underside compartment that holds the ram chip. This area is very sinsitive to debris. If dust gets in this area a good chance of a problem can occur. Player I am no expert in anyway with pc..... Maybe wait and listen to the pro's. They might have a better tip than this. Normally for me debris causes my labtop to overheat only. Not run slower. So really I am only making a suggestion that is good maintance practice.

Player...
Do you have all of the current updates recommended by Microsoft and Sony?
You can get microsofts updates by simply going to start/all programs/windows updates.
There's probably some kind of update software that takes you to Sony's website. (That's how my HP gets updates). Select that option (should be start/all programs/ sony update manager, or something to that effect).
Second, how much memory do you have installed on it? 512MB is definitely a minimum on a laptop but is best to have 1G (1024MB) if you can swing it.
You may have had no problems in the beginning due to the fact that there was a minimum percentage of system resources that was being used. Those resources get consumed as you install programs and it eventually causes your system a lot of lag due to running too many process at the same time.
If you want to test that theory go to start/run and type in msconfig and select ok. You will see the system configuration utility and you can select diagnostic start up and select apply then Ok. Afterwards you will need to reboot. You will see a window pop up after you restart your pc and it will say that you chose selective start up and do you want to change these settings. You will want to keep the changes you have made for a short period of time and run some tasks and see if you still get the hickups.
Possibly a better way to narrow down the problemed process that is lagging your pc would be to go to the last tab, startup.
From there you can choose your programs you want to disable and test to see if it makes any difference.
Remember, you can always go back and undo the changes you make and reboot to save settings.
Give that a try and I think it should work. If not, let me know and I will throw a little more tips your way.

the problem with that diagnostic setup is that it leaves you with the programs that you rarely or never use. i wasnt able to find a way to manipulate it to be able to show me if it was still hicupping... i still think its a hardware problem. but TMO you said there are other ways to detect the problem. im all ears- in this case eyes. another ting that i didnt mention is that it takes unusually long for the computer to load up when i shut it down (hibernate). but when i put it on standby its not too slow when it loads up.

Hey Player,
TMO his last comment about slow load up........ I had this problem with my computer right before my Ram chip went out.
Player, About 3 months ago my computer was running way slower then normal. When I would check my computers information....It say I had 896mb of available ram. I thought it was wrong cuz my computer was loading up slow. Then a week or so later my computer would not run at all. Lucky for me ram chip go out completly or else I would still have slow computer and not know why.... Toshiba replaced the ram chip and all went back to normal. I think speed = ram chip problem.

Player 111 the "siezure" thing sounds normal. I have a laptop as well and mine does the same thing. I wouldnt expect a video to continue playing a video past the point to where the computer has recieved/acknowledged it. However if this is different from what u have seen in the past, i think it could be due to your memory. But several ways to fix it. No.1 if it has recently done this, then your memory availability is probably sitting just fine (just stop looking at porn, and if u do , then run anti virus and antispy ware to remove the cookies and files attached to your computer). This would probably be my first step. If it doesnt work, like somebody said earlier possibly look for updates for your windows media player (if thats what u have). I just recently updated mine from like windows media 9 to windows media 11. Better quality and better load speed tbh.
But re-reading what u posted this is normal for siezures to occur imo. Mine does the same thing when a video has not fully loaded. The only thing u could do to prevent that is... wait until the full movie is downloaded... or get a faster processor so u dont have to wait nearly as long.
